World Environment Day awareness programme viz beach cleaning activities was held on 27.5.2018 at Kanyakumari on the motto of “Cleanliness is Service”. Thiru.A.V.Venkatachalam I.F.S., Director of Environment, Tmt. R.Ramila, Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, Thiru Anand I.F.S., District Forest Officer, Kanyakumari, Executive Officer, Kanyakumari – Municipality, Officials from Chief Educational Office, Kanyakumari, Non Governmental Organizations, Self help groups, Government officials, local people and Local Body staffs have participated in the beach cleaning programme along with NGC Eco Clubs of Kanyakumari. Pamphlets, Handbills, Gloves, T-Shirts, Caps, cleaning materials such as brooms, dust bin etc. were provided to all the participants. The participants carried out the cleaning exercise for 1 to 1.5 Km distance in Kanyakumari Beach area. The programme started at 7.30am in the morning by groups of 4 batches and disposed off the accumulated waste through self help group.
